The design for the new middle school in Pessano con Bornago was intended to break with traditional school structure patterns and respond to the needs of a changing educational world. We wanted to create a school building that would be highly flexible, divided into four distinct departments to allow for rotational teaching, easily adapting to different educational and pedagogical needs.
For the construction of the volume, we opted for a metal carpentry structure, which allowed us to build quickly and efficiently. This approach allowed us to create a safe, state-of-the-art building designed to be earthquake-resistant and Nzeb (Nearly Zero Energy Building), thus ensuring very high energy performance and low environmental impact.
We envisioned this school not only as a place of learning, but as a true hub for the entire community. The presence of a gymnasium and auditorium open to citizens transforms the building into a landmark for Pessano con Bornago, offering multifunctional spaces that can be used for events, sports and cultural activities, both for students and citizens.
Our goal has been to create a school tailored to future users, a place that not only meets modern educational needs but also fits into the daily life of the community, promoting a sense of belonging and sharing.
