The Santa Maria della Pietà Integrated Plan project represents an ambitious and significant intervention on the ASL pavilions of the Lazio Region, aiming to transform this historic complex in the heart of the Metropolitan City of Rome into a health and wellness park. The focus of the project is the interior renovation and the restoration of the facades of Pavilion V, with the goal of strengthening the complex’s role as a multipurpose center for social welfare, cultural, and educational activities.
We adopted a design approach that ensures full accessibility and effective utilization of the interior spaces, while maintaining the utmost respect for the typological characteristics of the original layout. This balance between innovation and respect for the history of the place has been at the core of our work, enabling us to refunctionalize the pavilions to accommodate new activities without compromising their historical value.
The project is part of a broader initiative to enhance the historical and architectural heritage, aiming to promote social integration and innovation in public services. Reclaiming these spaces means preserving an important piece of Roman history but also offering the community a functional and welcoming place that meets modern needs. In this redevelopment process, we are committed to creating environments that are not only functionally efficient but also promote the well-being and health of their users. This project is not merely a renovation but a true rebirth for the former Santa Maria della Pietà Hospital, transforming its spaces into a vital center for the community where the past and future converge, creating a new landmark in the city of Rome in perfect harmony.
