Education
The Giraffe in the Courtyard

The design for the new Rita Levi Montalcini Primary School in Porto Potenza Picena was born out of the desire to create a building that not only meets the educational needs of the 21st century, but also conveys an implicit pedagogy through the quality and conformation of its spaces. We firmly believe that architecture has the power to shape man, and in this case, new generations.
The school is designed with a C-shaped floor plan that almost looks like a protective embrace, enclosing a garden in the center that becomes the beating heart of the building. This green space is designed not only as a recreational place, but as a true open-air laboratory, where children can experience direct contact with nature both during intervals and during class hours. Within this inner courtyard garden, we have included a statue of a giraffe, a visual and playful element that becomes a reference point for children, enriching the daily experience with a touch of wonder and imagination.
We wanted to make the most of the common areas, both outside and inside, creating spaces that encourage socialization, interaction and learning. The central garden is not just an aesthetic element, but an educational place that encourages children to explore, discover and learn in a stimulating and natural environment.
With this project, we wanted to create a school that was both modern and deeply rooted in educational values, a place where architecture and pedagogy come together to provide a unique and stimulating learning environment.
