Ready, set, grow! Today we officially launched the construction of the Bosco della Musica, the new campus of the G. Verdi Conservatoire in Milan.
The project, which draws inspiration from the woodland growing in this area, is being reborn today to house Italy’s first open-air campus for music education.
The 400-seat auditorium will become the symbolic heart of the campus. Surrounding it are a 200-bed student hall of residence, the new home of the rock, pop and jazz school in the former Chimici building, and a multi-purpose space dedicated to electronic and experimental music, complete with a bar, restaurant and communal areas. Rounding off the project are a summer arena for open-air concerts, green roofs and flower-filled lawns that promote biodiversity.
Today, together with the Conservatoire and the authorities present – the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala; the President of the Region, Attilio Fontana; and the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini – we celebrated the laying of the foundation stone: a significant moment marking another important step towards the regeneration of Milan’s southern district. Concerts, cultural initiatives and shared spaces will offer new opportunities for people to come together and help strengthen Rogoredo’s identity.
For now, the beat coming from the Bosco della Musica is that of the building site, but we’re only at the beginning of the track!
