The University of Padua’s Engineering Hub has been shortlisted for the OICE Engineering and Architecture Awards, in the ‘Timber Construction Projects’ category.
The load-bearing glulam structures, the XLAM timber roofs and the ‘box-girder’ floor slabs make it an exceptional example of sustainable construction, and one of the largest timber-framed buildings in Italy – a symbol of innovation and sustainability in the heart of the city of Padua.
All this was made possible thanks to close collaboration with Rubner Grandi Strutture in Legno, a leading European company in timber construction.
Today, the Hub is a vibrant space dedicated to research and training, where natural materials and advanced technologies come together to build the future for the next generations.
