The Clusone gymnasium and sports center project was a new focal point for local sports activities. We wanted to create a facility that not only meets the sports needs of the community, but also becomes a place for gathering and entertainment, integrating an organic space for outdoor events.
The new sports hub consists of amultipurpose outdoor area, where the design has created a space of great design expression. The sports facility was equipped with all the necessary spaces to accommodate not only competitive sports activities, but also public events. Designed in accordance with CONI regulations, the gymnasium includes a Silver1-approved court that can be used for different disciplines such as volleyball and handball, making the arena versatile and suitable for a variety of sporting events.
We chose to give the building a footprint characterized by clear and simple geometries, ensuring functionality and efficiency. However, it is in the elevation that the building expresses its distinctive character: a strong expressive gesture that imposes itself iconographically on the surrounding space. The dynamic facade, known as the "yellow cave," becomes the identifying element of the project, giving the entire complex a unique visual identity.
With this project, we wanted to create a place that was not only functional, but that would become a symbol for Clusone, a landmark for sports and the community. The gymnasium and sports center are not only spaces for physical activity, but also meeting places where the community can come together, share experiences, and celebrate sport in all its forms. The building is used by Atalanta Calcio for summer training.
